No, I don't want to change my password now.

We'll see if using OE versus Outlook resolves that wacky formatting issue.

So! Friday. Ran errands. Got more flea stuff for the cats - just one tube
this time, since I had one left from last time - a rat for Craig, and
stopped at Petsmart (who I'm not really fond of) to see what they had in the
way of under-tank heaters.

I've been thinking about getting him an actual tank <u>light</u> lately -
since he had plenty in the way of heat - to give him an actual day/night
cycle. Found this low-profile thing that took compact flourescent bulbs, &
spent $17 on a "tropical UV" bulb. Which was far FAR more than I really
wanted to spend, but hey. Its hooked onto a timer now, so it turns on & off
every day. Now I just need to replace that burnt-out heat pad, & we should
(hopefully) be good for winter.

Saturday. I skipped out on going to the farmer's market this week. I mean,
the alarm went off, I woke up, & lay there seriously considering getting up
& going... but decided that since I had plenty of produce I have yet to
cook, there was no point in getting out of bed. So I rolled over & went back
to sleep.

Got up later when <lj user="mister_flames"> texted me. Escaped from under
the cats & made coffee, then called him to trade gossip. He's looking for a
new place for himself, one that's close to the Lynnwood callcenter - he's
going to try & talk HR into letting him come back... with all his seniority
& hourly rate intact. I hope he makes it. That's one missing ninja that we
really need to return.

After that I ran up to Aimee's to feed her cats & rabbits & fish... then
came back. Freak reminded me at that point that we were supposed to meet
Paul & Lise in Kirkland to see the Retros at the Shark Club... So I
proceeded to get ready by working on the faux wolfskin blanket while
watching more C.S.I. episodes.

Turns out they're an 80's cover band, which was definitely very fun. Freak
bought me a beer then pushed me out to dance with Paul & Lise. (stinker told
me later that i'd definitely gotten my 30 min of exercise in today.) I
think the oddest part was when I noticed that a lot of 80's pop music had a
LOT of reggae in it... which, I find it odd that i'd never noticed it until
now seeing I spend a significant chunk of my teens <u>hating</u> reggae.

After about an hour-ish of this though, Freak was done. He'd brought his
sunglasses so the strobe lights weren't bothering him <u>that</u> badly, but
he said he was bored with watching the mating habits of the people there &
the bass was too loud. (I can't help but wonder if he'd get tired & want to
go home if it was a honky-tonk bar...) I did tell Lise that if she ever
wanted to drag me out again go ahead, whether Freak came along or not.

Went home, finished watching all the C.S.I. episodes, then went back &
watched the commentary tracks I hadn't watched yet. I just need to finish
watching the extras & I'll be ready to move on to watching season 7 & free
up some room on the DVR. Also finished reading the Manga <u>Blade of
Heaven</u>. It almost became a chore towards the end - after the manga-ka
got warmed up, it did improve (actual character development! woot!) but then
about the 5th volume it changed wildly, with the main character renamed &
halfway across the continent with amnesia. Goofy. But now I can return the
volumes I have left & start on <u>Berzerk</u>, the last of which arrived
finally.

Also, got my PUD application in the mail. So i'm filling that out tonight...
along with another Publisher's Clearing House mailing. 'Cause i may have
already won 10 million dollars.

No Plan Survives First Contact With The Freak

I went to bed at 5am-ish as planned. Well, at 9:15am-ish I got a call from freak – he’d apparently spent all of yesterday in the shop, shaping some knives on the grinder - <u>without</u> a facemask. Which meant he was breathing metal dust all day, and spent the night coughing. Then, adding insult to injury, the dogs decided to bark all night, keeping him from sleeping. So he wanted me to come & rescue him so he could get some sleep.

He’s back for the weekend at this point, with plans to head back up on Monday again, although we’ll see how that goes.

The other plan for today was for <lj user=”cutenessfact0r”> to get dropped off after her dental appointment, at which point she’d nap on my couch until it was time to go in. I thought she’d be showing up earlier than she did, which was good in a way because it meant I wasn’t in Tulalip when she showed up. Sadly this also meant that when I crawled back in bed after getting home with the Freakachu, I was woken up to let her in.  Did manage to get about an hour before I had to get up to go to work though.

So, I’m at work, exhausted, drinking caffeinated beverages & taking Excedrin-clone for the caffeine. I managed to bring the pies I cooked, however I did not have the chance to finish those machine seams on the blanket. I will finish that thing this weekend, dammnit. I’m tired of not having it finished.

Today

Went to bed early last night, then left the house early. Had to drop off some paperwork for Freak, then go renew my tabs… Sadly, I’d told him he could raid my change purse for mcdonalds cheeseburgers while I showered so when I got to Freddy’s to do my tabs I was $2 short. Even after I’d pulled money out of the ATM. And of course, I didn’t have my checkbook with me so I was just out of luck.

Hit the library & picked up some holds & headed to work – was almost late for work. I blame the school zone & its 20 mph limit.  Made it barely in time & my computer decided to take forever to fire up all my GUI’s… So now I’m here at work, little bit of a headache starting, and I’m wondering if the idiots I’m dealing with are actually idiots, or if I’m just not in very good shape right now?

Could be either. Freak has a full-blown cold he picked up at the Ranch, so I’m sure to be getting it here in a few days. ‘Cause that’s how this stuff works.

This Weekend

Friday: went to memorial service for <lj user=”supernovame”>’s wife with <lj user=”cutenessfact0r”> & <lj user=”teegin”>. Freak was driving. We managed to get lost in Black Diamond somehow & missed the first half of the service. There were Ninja Delivery Service stickers on the card we delivered though.

Saturday: Went to library to pick up holds. Grabbed Paul & went to the Edmonds Farmer’s Market. I must go again next week – maybe turn the freak loose so I can shop in peace. (We have very VERY different shopping agendas.) Oh, and show up really bloody early. Went & saw Dragon War afterwards. Cool, but don’t pay full price.  Went home & ate dinner, then went over to Paul’s new place & met his roommate, Lise, who is a very talented pianist… she gave us one of her albums & we sat & watched Stranger Than Fiction with them – which was a very good movie for being a Will Farrell vehicle. Then she played one of her songs for us, & we told her she should pursue music as a career. Went home & fell over utterly exhausted after that.

Today: Went to work. About to go home. More detail later.

Maybe.

another glorious day

Sooo… last night Freak wandered up to Aimee’s house & used her cellphone to text me to come get him after work – he needed his gout meds & was feeling really really ill & wanted to come home. So I did – turns out she’d flea-bombed her house today & he was probably suffering from some kind of chemical-induced nausea acquired while he was using her shower. Brought him home & went to sleep.

He said he had a great time, the few days he was up there. He said Solomon enjoyed having him as a fellow shop monkey, & apparently got a lot of stuff done. He was suffering tv withdrawals, though, so this afternoon when I got up we ended up eating breakfast in front of the tv.  When I left he was heading back to bed to sleep.  He’s going to be staying home until next week, when he’ll be going back up on Monday.

He also got that little mp3 player <lj user=”lynna2000”> gave me working – I pulled off all the music on it, loaded it up with a bunch of stuff off my hard drive, & he went in & set it back to defaults which got it to magically start working.  I’m convinced it just wanted him to fondle it – this <u>is</u> how it works with most electronics. He touches it, maybe messes with it a bit, & the thing promptly stops doing whatever stupid thing was driving you up the wall. Which means I’m taking another crack at the elliptical walker machines in the exercise room tonight after work – see if I can clear 15 min without becoming bored.

I just wish those things had a charger port built into them – they’re already set to generate their own power, which goes towards powering the little panel & detecting your heart rate, but I’m sure there’s a bit left over for neurotic power scavengers like me.

We'll see how this goes

This morning we packed up some stuff for him & Freak went to Bandit Camp.

Okay, so its actually that he’s gone to stay up at Jess’s Ranch during the week while I’m at work. So I suppose its more Blacksmith Camp than anything. He’s got his own travel trailer to sleep in while he’s up there, & the use of this little 250cc scooter if he needs/wants to come back to the house… I’m interested to see if he’s at the house when I get home tonight – the Ranch keeps a day schedule, which means bedtime is usually around 8 or 9pm. So if he can’t sleep where he is, he may decide to come home.

He did come down to pick up his dremel set – arrived at the house literally minutes after I walked out the door. He said he’d been working in the shop with Solomon pretty much all day, with Jess wandering in & out giving them stuff to do. He said he was having fun, which is good, that being the point & all.

Its going to be rather weird if I get home & there’s no one there. I was too tired to really notice when I got home this morning after dropping him off, but I’m waiting to see what its like. It’ll be nice because I won’t have to worry about noise or lights or weird food, but at the same time I won’t have anyone to talk to aside from the cats.

I’m hoping this works out – he’s going stir-crazy at home during my work week, and from the sounds of things they’re taking advantage of his boundless energy & willingness to work when directed.  Which should make for a much happier Freak…

This is just stupid

Its Sunday night, & I think this weekend there was a real run on plastic cutlery, because when I went to eat my lunch I discovered that the only thing left in the breakroom was plastic knives. No spoons, and no forks – I ended up stamping down my “eeewwww” reflex & fishing a spoon out of one of the garbage cans & washing it thoroughly before using it to eat my lunch.

This is just stupid – I find it aggravating that no one seems to restock in there on the weekends, and all the storage cabinets are locked so we can’t refill things ourselves as needed. The vending machines get emptied out & the money cache fills up to the point where it won’t accept any more money.

I’ve already brought my fat-bottomed coffee travel mug to work, & have begun refilling a 20 oz. dew bottle off Freak’s 2-liter’s from home to hit my daily dew jonse. I’m now seriously considering hitting Pal-Do world & 99-Ranch market (& possibly that Korean “home store” at Hwy 99 & 168th) in search of one of those little bento boxes the other girls in 4th grade had, with the Hello Kitty & a little silverware compartment with a sliding lid on it… so I can have my chopsticks and a fork waiting if the disposables fail me again.  It would be nice to find one that actually had Hello Kitty on it… although I’m willing to settle for any obnoxiously cute design as long as it has the compartment & is microwave/dishwasher safe.

Tomorrow

Lj-userpic: deceptinanicon

Lj-tags: in today’s news

Tomorrow’s Excursion will be the Museum of Flight in South Seattle. Should be fun – free admission hours are 5pm – 9pm. Convenient – I was worried they’d be closing at 5pm &  we’d end up scrambling to get down there in time.

Today… I got my call from the library while I was eating breakfast – I had a bunch of stuff waiting for me - & swung through to pick it up before work. Ended up running into Fred Meyer’s to grab some microwavable food for my lunch, accompanied by my trusty canvas shopping bag. I’m really tempted to declare plastic shopping bags as Not My Friend, but to truly be effective on that one I’d have to actually sit down & make a pile of shopping bags. I do have that box full of burlap, & several yards of unbleached/undyed canvas. This, of course, assumes I can stop procrastinating long enough to actually sew them up.

One of the goodies I got was a book called <u>Solar Energy Projects for the Evil Genius</i>, which I’m really looking forward to reading. I’m hoping to get some good stuff out of it – stuff I can put in place without getting in trouble with my condo association. I’m already contemplating building a growing rack – to attempt my own veggies next summer & such – as well as a vermicompost bin on my back patio. And I have to make/buy a solar charger/battery pack now that I have the laptop – there is really no reason NOT to have it quietly collecting power so I can trickle-charge all the battery-powered items in the house now.

Time flies like an arrow, fruit flies like a banana

Lj-tags: in today’s news

Lj-mood: amused

Freak is a butthead. He traded my mp3 player for a working Tmobile Sidekick ID.

Okay, so he’s the one that got me the mp3 player to begin with, & it only had 256 megs of ram, & I haven’t actually <u>used</u> it in several months.

And admittedly this means I can get myself one of those Motorola phones with the camera & mp3 player built in with clear conscience since he’s already got a “new phone”…which means I only have to get myself ONE new phone. Heh. I don’t think he thought this out completely.

So, no, he ended up not going up Sunday night after work. The new plan is that on Thursday we’ll be going to the Museum of Flight on free admission day, and then he’ll get dropped off this coming Sunday night instead.

Last night, after that thunderstorm blew past Lynnwood, we drove down & returned Kouchcat’s Boy’s computer. Came home, ate food, & off to bed.

At work right now, working on my Publisher’s Clearing House submission, since I may have already won 10 million dollars.

Can’t wait for going-home time.
