Sometimes I love when I just get lost in a weekend. It makes it seem so much longer than the 2 days it occupied….
Friday, had to get up early for more in-person errands with Freak. Change of Address for him at the bank, New Driver’s Licences at DOL for both of us, paid for updated tabs on the Scion. (Its been a YEAR? Wow.) Stopped at the Alderwood CSO to pick up DSHS paperwork so we can try to get the Freakachu back on assistance… and lamictal. It rather amazed me how quick we got all this done – I was anticipating lines upon lines, it being Friday afternoon on payday, but there were really hardly ANY lines to speak of and we were done VERY quickly.
Went to Lowes to look at… stuff. I can’t remember EXACTLY what we were there for, but we ended up getting bits & attachments for the dremel to turn it into a very small router. And a lazer level & studfinder set. Which will come in VERY handy as we build & repair & attach things in our lovely new old home. Afterwards, went to dinner w/Josh & <lj user="momymelmo"> at Taste of Thai – and MAN, their Panang Curry is just to DIE for. Go there. Get the chicken kind. Melt into the beautiful layered taste. Exceptional.
ANYWAY. Gossip Gossip Gossip! The Reinaissance Report! Cy has QUIT NWAMS!!! Escaped the clutches of the Crazy French Lady! Holy Cow! I’m guessing math was done comparing what the two of them made working downtown, requiring their newborn to be put in (Very Expensive) daycare, as opposed to what their financial requirements would be if Isy kept HER job, and Cy became househusband w/child. At least I’m hoping they actually reviewed it rather than just going, “Oh, Well, Gee Whiz, can’t dump kid on Josh for free, guess Cy gotta quit.” AND, after over 3 years, the dispatchers on the floor FINALLY got a 33¢ raise. Too little, too late, anyone? After that, we went & roamed around Fred Meyers looking for tub corner splash guards. They had some, but they were extra cheesy. Oh, and we marched around the Plumbing section proclaiming how we needed caulk.
Fun, up until the zipper on my jeans decided to blow out… with no justification. Its one of the newer pairs, it wasn’t like I was putting any extra strain on it, I just sat down on the couch/futon thing I’ve been ogling at Freddies lately, and the teeth just… un teethed. Pissed me off, Now I have this structurally sound pair of jeans that I can’t wear, I already tried fixing the zipper, but its DEAD, jim, I’m a doctor, not a seamstress! Gr. Now I have to come up with something creative & fun to keep them from having to be tossed out. Maybe turned into another jeanskirt? As soon as I figure out the whole busted zipper issue.
Got roped into giving one of Freakachu’s acquaintances a ride to Seattle for $10. Kinda nice on the gas tank – an important consideration with prices in the $3/gal. range – and Southbound I-5 made for the most impressive view of the Full Moon. In retrospect, I’m wishing it had registered to the point where I found a place to park, and just watch the moon crawl up the sky for a bit. But, oh well. Maybe next time.
Saturday, Aimee came over after working at her house all day. She dropped the girls with her mom & came over – We’ve been in the new place for WEEKS now, it is long past time for there to be a cleansing. Especially since the previous owners were psyco Christians. Like, Burn-People-At-The-Stake caliber. So, yeah. We smudged w/sage, Freak & Aimee chased the bad spirits out of the house with rattles, and we painted runes in the doorjambs … Cody the neighbor guy came over to see what we were doing, there was much laughter, and a good time was had by all. Then Freak ran to play taxi for someone, I made Colcannon, and it was good. The vaguely funny part was Cody grinning like a fiend & thanking us for moving in. Talk about warm fuzzies.
Which is another thing. I had to go to Pal-Do World in Lynwood… QFC was out of leeks when I went to get some… and WOW. I am never buying produce from QFC ever again. The vegetables at Pal-Do World? Gorgeous. Fantastic. Huge. Fluffy. It looked like these things came from a farm, rather than being pale representations of what a marketing person THOUGHT a vegetable should look like.
I removed the metal shelf brackets from the side of one of the kitchen cabinets. Put away some stuff – talked to Freak about how to arrange his room & what lumber to use. How big the cabinet I’m going to construct to be my cookbook shelf is going to be. Rearranged the living room – shuffled some boxes around, moved the couch , put away some blankets. Discovered the downstairs toilet is hopelessly clogged, and will not drain. I turned off the water so it wouldn’t overflow & its been tabled for now. We rifled the outside storage & found some strips of wood that would work fabulously as shims for securing the DVD shelf to the wall downstairs. Plans were made, and I watched a lot of HGTV. (house porn!) I’m developing a real appreciation for Design on a Dime – I’m thinking of building a cornice box for the upstairs window… it’ll do things to make it dark WITHOUT totally sacrificing the future ability to open the window.
So… I’m at work… I still haven’t balanced my checkbook even though I got paid on Friday… which I need to do. Living in denial is great & all, but dangerous. I’m just hoping I raked in enough OT to have padded my check very dramatically…
